The quest for the Hoop of Life Community Basketball League's one-million-dollar first prize intensifies today when the knockout round jumps off.
The first round of the knockout will feature 16 teams playing a one-match eliminator, with the losers going home and the winners advancing to the second round of the knockout, which will be played as a "best-of-two" home and away series.
Unbeaten side Valencia hosts Palo Seco at Valencia from 7.30 p.m. in the feature game of the opening round of the knockout phase of the competition.
The other games today will see Marabella hosting Tobago team Mason Hall, Arima travelling to Enterprise and Caledonia playing Longdenville at Caledonia.
The knockout continues tomorrow with four more games.
The draw for the knockout round took place at Mandela Hall, out at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, on Saturday, with 24 teams —the 12 group winners and 12 runners up—taking part.
The preliminary round comprised 12 sectors, which saw League play involving 60 teams over 47 nights of action.
The 24 finalists emerged after 240 matches were played across T&T.
Eight of the 12 sector winners were placed on byes, with home-court advantage.
