ToolsVentures indoor hockey flicks offPetrotrin men and Paragon women will defend their titles when the Ventures Hockey Club's Invitational International Indoor Hockey Tournament flicks off today from 12 noon at Woodbrook Youth Facility. Notre Dame might just have revenge on their minds when the tenth annual installment of the event gets going, after they were whipped 5-1 by Petrotrin men and 3-0 by the Paragon women in the 2012 finals. This time Petrotrin are pooled in the Open Men A group, with Queen's Park, Notre Dame and Malvern for company in the group stage. The Open Men B group includes Defence Force, Fatima and Paragon, along with a visiting Barbados outfit. Among the Open Women, Paragon will have to contend with Notre Dame, two Ventures teams, and two US-based teams called Fear None—comprising mainly players of Edge Hockey Club—if they are to defend their title. In the Veterans Division, reigning champs Defence Force will come up against Queen's Park, Fatima, Malvern, Notre Dame and a team from St Martin. The semi-finals, third and fourth place playoffs and finals for each division are scheduled for Sunday. This year's winners in the Open Divisions will take home US $1,000, while there will also be prizes for Most Valuable Player, Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Most Goals. |
