WASA stretch Super League lead

Former champions WASA FC won the crucial clash of the table toppers against Westside Superstarz on Sunday to take a six-point lead in the blink/bmobile National Super League (NSL) standings.

Jahhan Hernandez and Glen Walker struck in the 57th and 65th minutes respectively to grab the away win at St Anthony's College's Westmoorings ground, to spoil Superstarz's chance at the NSL title.

And defending champions Joe Public FC improved WASA's chances at dethroning them after being held to a 1-1 draw against Stokely Vale at their Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya home. Deon Thomas pulled off the equaliser for the Tobago side in the 51st, cancelling Ellis Dyette's seventh minute strike.

Real Maracas also took a big step away from the relegation zone when they beat Defence Force 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter at Maracas Valley Recreation Ground in St Joseph, Dillon Bartholomew's double rescuing full points for Maracas.

In between those goals, Akil Nichols equalised for Maracas in the 72nd minute.

Cellar-placed Biche United, though, are almost certainly relegated after being beaten 4-0 by Club Sando, who are lodged one spot ahead of Biche. Eagles United are the other team currently in the drop zone after they were beaten by Siparia Spurs 3-0.
