WI U19s win to stay in series
The West Indies Under-19 team beat their Bangladeshi counterparts by 67 runs late yesterday at Guyana’s National Stadium in Providence to stay in the series.
The Windies Under-19s were bowled out for 177 in 46.2 overs when batting first in the contest, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul stroking 51 to make sure the hosts had a competitive score. He was assisted by Shimron Hetmyer (29), Tristann Coleman (23) and Nicholas Pooran (23).
Bangledesh Under-19s had four wickets from Zubair Hossain Likhon, and two apiece from Rifat Pradhan and Mossadek Hossain Saikat.
In reply, Bangladesh Under-19s were bowled out for 110 in 38.3 overs, with Preston McSween (four wickets) and Ray Jordan (two) the prime destroyers. Sadman Islam Anik was the lone resistor for the visitors, but was stumped on 49 to leave his team 109 for nine.
The Bangladeshis lead the seven match series 3-2 with two matches still to be played.
