WIPA president congratulates Caribbean T20 champions

West Indies Players Association (WIPA) president Dinanath Ramnarine has congratulated the Trinidad and Tobago team on their success in the 2012 Caribbean Twenty20, hailing the Denesh Ramdin-led team for their "professional performance" throughout the tournament.

T&T defeated Jamaica by 63 runs in the CT20 final at Kensington Oval, Barbados on Sunday night and, by virtue of winning the tournament, T&T booked their place in the Champions League T20 in India for the third time in four years.

In a media release on Wednesday, Ramnarine said: "It was a truly professional performance. It is clear that the edge the team holds is the way each player adds value and helps to create synergy. The teamwork and team spirit were outstanding. "Trinidad and Tobago has once again dominated T20 cricket at regional level. I wish them all the best in the Champions League later this year," Ramnarine added.

The WIPA president was also high in praise for beaten finalists Jamaica.

He said: "I commiserate with the Jamaica team. They did well to get to the final of the tournament and I believe they will definitely improve in the T20 format later. Remember, they are the regional champions in both the four-day and 50-over formats."
