Weather disrupts Open Water Classic

Poor visiblity because of heavy rain at Maracas Bay yesterday, disrupted the Maracas Open Water Classic yesterday, leaving it without winners in the 5,000 metres category.

Jonathan Gillette and Theana Hay were the defending champions.

However, there were winners in the 2,650 metres Open contest.

Jabari Baptiste of Marlins Swim Club was the overall winner, completing the swim in one hour, and 24 minutes to finish well ahead of Marlins teammate David Wiltshire (1:29), and Ncholas Mitchell of Stingray, who completed the course in 1:34.

The first female to complete the Open swim was Shania David of Tidal Wave who was 17th with a time of 1:39.
