FOUR WICKETS: Andy Gobin ToolsWindwards grab lead over T&Tl Barbados Windward Islands managed to grab first innings points over Trinidad and Tobago as 17 wickets tumbled for 193 runs on the penultimate day of their second round match in the Regional Under-19 Championship here yesterday. After surrendering a lead of 62, Trinidad and Tobago, who were dismissed for 122, bounced back to reduce their opponents to 100 for eight at the close and leave the game open heading into today's final day. At the close, extended by an hour due to two interruptions for rain in the final session, Windwards led overall by 161 runs after tottering at 25 for five. Wicketkeeper/batsman Horlice Blair propped up the order with a fighting unbeaten 34, in 140 minutes off 140 balls with one four. Off-spinner Andy Gobin shared the new ball and prised out four wickets, including two before and after the tea interval. The dangerous Jerlani Robinson swung across and lost his stumps and Roland Cato was caught at slip for nought. Gidron Pope charged down the track and was stumped, while Larry Edward fell lbw to Gobin, who has captured four for 11. Opener Keone George, who suffered an injury to his right-shoulder while attempting to take a catch earlier, came at number seven and made 20 before he and Ray Jordan were both lbw to left-arm spinner Jovan Ali, with two for 19. Earlier, when Trinidad and Tobago restarted from 29 for one, fast-bowler Preston McSween induced an edge to the keeper from the in-form Jermey Solozano after the left-hander had added four to his overnight 18. Gobin and Everton Nicholson put on 43 for the third-wicket but Trinidad and Tobago imploded, losing eight wickets for 46 runs. Nicholson was lbw to left-arm spinner Edward for 29, with four fours off 39 balls, and Gobin, pushing forward uncertainly, was caught at slip off Edward for 19. Edward claimed three for 28. Viskash Mohan was run out in a mix up with Nicholas Pooran and off the very next ball Anthony Simmons was trapped in front to Kenneth Dember (2-21) without scoring. On the stroke of lunch, Pooran was brilliantly caught by Blair down the leg-side flicking at pacer Shaquille Brown (2-25) as Trinidad and Tobago limped to 103 for eight.
