ToolsWinning start for UTT in All Sectors netballUniversity of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) had a good start to the 2013 Courts All Sectors Netball League season, taking the Opening Day Knock Out tournament Premiership title at Eastern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Tacarigua on Saturday. UTT beat Police 9-2 to snatch the first title of the season, with Daystar Swift the main threat with six-of-nine shooting to lead them to a 5-1 half-time lead. Jillisa Allan also added three goals from four attempts. Police had little opportunity to get to the rim, as their goals came from two attempts, one each from senior national goal attack Joelisa Cooper, and her T&T Under-21 counterpart Kalifa McCollin. The final was Police's only outing, as Defence Force defaulted on the other, but UTT got there after beating Fire Services 5-2. The Championship Division was won by Bermudez, who edged San Juan Jabloteh 6-5 thanks to Kathy James (four goals from six attempts) and Jocelyn Marcelle, who had two-from-three shooting. Bermudez also beat UWI 2-1 en route to the final, while Jabloteh also edged Fire Services 3-2. The Alternative Division went to TSTT, who won the decider against UTT 5-3. UTT started the afternoon well too, picking up the opening ceremony march past competition. |
