Women’s Knockout Open starts

The semi-finals of the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) 30-over Knockout Open competition bowls off today with defending champions Moosai Sports getting a second chance at glory when they face Technocrats at Macaulay Park in California from 12 p.m.

Technocrats, led by a good all-round performance from West Indies player Shaquana Quintyne, defeated Moosai by four wickets in a low-scoring second round match, however Moosai still made it to the semi-finals by virtue of being the best losing team in the round.

Having scored just 112 for nine, Moosai took the game to the final two overs as Technocrats reached 113 for six off 28.5 overs. Quintyne grabbed two wickets for 12 runs and scores 33 to lead her team to victory and should play another key role in today’s replay.

Today’s other semi-final will see Phoenix Women’s Cricket Club and Cricket Lovers face off at Coryal Recreation Ground from 12 p.m.

Phoenix, led by an unbeaten 101 from Britney Cooper and 87 not out from Felicia Walters, overcame Anisa Mohammed’s MAAAD Rangers by 96 runs in their round two fixture while Cricket Lovers defeated Hibiscus Ladies in their second round encounter.
