Zones start screening

The Central Zone, East Zone and South Zone will be starting screenings this week for their respective zonal youth teams for the upcoming BG T&T Under-17 and Under-19 cricket competitions.

Central will have their session for Under-19 and Under-17 players at Presentation College Chaguanas today from 3.30 p.m. and interested persons can contact Lalman Kowlessar at 726-6116; Keith Joseph at 730-2716 or Fareed Khan at 794-5700.

East will hold their screenings for the same age groups on Wednesday and Friday at the El Dorado East Secondary School (El Do Blue) nets from 3.30 p.m. Players will then be shortlisted for further trials during the following weeks.

Interested players or parents residing in the region between El Soccoro Road and Olton Road, Arima, can contact Tarandath Sammy at 684-9403 or Kelvin Arneaud at 290-2833 for more information on the East Zone screenings.

The South zone will have Under-19 screening on Friday at Guaracara Park Point-a-Pierre also from 3.30 p.m.

The South Zone session is open to all who reside within the boundaries of the South Zone and are under the age of 19 as of September 1, 2013.

Interested players or parents can call South Zone Under-19 team manager Sheldon Boochoon at 682-7958 or coach Lennox Steele at 765-0601 for more details on the South Zone screening session.

The BG T&T Under-19 and Under-17 competitions start in mid-March 2013.

The East Zone are defending champions in the Under-19 competition and were runners up to Central in the Under-17 competition last year. Central were runners up in the Under-19 tournament last year.

Trinidad and Tobago's 2012 Under-19 players Jeremy Solozano, Stephan Wharwood, Anthony Simmons and Vikash Mohan all came from the East Zone.

Central Zone's Nicholas Pooran and Andy Gobin were also in the T&T Under-19 team last year.
