Tools'Golf for life' tees off SaturdayThe Rotary Club of St Augustine will host their second annual fundraising golf tournament, "Golf for Life", on Saturday at Millennium Lakes Golf and Country Club in Trincity. The tournament is being sponsored by Sun Crest International, distributors of Wellman health products, to the tune of $60,000. The cause is the Heartbeat International of Trinidad and Tobago, to help provide pace makers and defibrillators to needy patients in T&T. Other Rotary Club charities will also benefit. Rotary club of St Augustine president Vishnu Balroop said recently that after the 2011 tournament, the Club was able $95,000 to Heartbeat, and a further $25,000 to Heartbeat International Regional Distribution Centre of T&T. Said Balroop: "The tournament was very successful last year, enabling the Club to assist patients who had no access to these life-saving devices." Tournament committee chairman Krishna Boodhai, a past president of the Club, also expressed his gratitude to Suncrest and other sponsors. |
