Tools'Solo' returns to badmintonSOLO Beverages Ltd returns to support the sport of badminton after more than five years today. The Solo Badminton Tournament will be contested in two phases at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas. The juniors will be in action today and tomorrow and then come back next Saturday for the finals, while the seniors will do battle on a nightly basis from Monday until Thursday. Matthaus Wilford, Jason Ramjass, Kristi Reno-Singh and Leon Cassie are among several champions in the list of more than 100 juniors entered to compete in five categories--under-11, -13, -15, -17 and -19--in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. There will be an official opening ceremony at 8.45 a.m. today and first serve is scheduled for 15 minutes later. This is the first tournament since Zeudi Mack became president of the Trinidad and Tobago Badminton Association a few months ago. Mack is a former national singles champ who was crowned national doubles and mixed doubles champ on more than five occasions each. |
