ToolsCommunity Groups Invited To Showcase Regional FilmsThe Trinidad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) has an open invitation to all organisations, NGO's, CBOs and other 'Community Groups' to partner with the company to host screenings of local and regional films which comprise the Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase 2012 (TCFS). This is a wonderful 'family' event idea which entertains and educates. The Showcase was launched last Thursday evening at the Little Carib Theatre where our very own award-winning 'Classical Steel' by John Barry, was screened along with 'Casa Vieja [Old House]' by Cuban Producer Lester Hamlet. Members of the audience described the films as "passionate", "excellent" and "outstanding". Christopher Laird, Chairman of TTFC remarked that this singular, regional platform for the screenings and distribution of regionally-produced content provides a unique experience for audiences to view films which they would otherwise not even be aware of. He congratulated the vision of Cuba and the efforts of the Regional Committee which meets annually to adjudicate and select the films. The TCFS is a programme initiated by Muestra Itinerante de Cine del Caribe in Cuba with the support of UNESCO, in which films produced by Caribbean and Latin American film-makers are selected for screening in several Caribbean countries. In 2012 (the 4th edition) there are over 30 films in the Showcase, many of which are suitable for children and adults. The films cover a range of stories from countries including Belize, Columbia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Curacao, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Cuba to name a few and the English speaking region is also represented with films from Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago! The synopses of all films are available at www.trinidadandtobagofilm.com These films are travelling through Trinidad and Tobago for the months of July to August 2012. Any group/ Organisation willing to host a screening of the Showcase films for an audience of 50 persons and more, please contact the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company on 625-3456 or write to info@trinidadandtobagofilm.com. |
