Ramdeo Lutchman ToolsExpress, Express! Read all about itAs It celebrates its 45th anniversary the Express went downtown Port of Spain to get an insight as to how the public view the newspaper. Here are some of the views shared: Ramdeo Lutchman, 36, Taxi Driver, Chaguanas. I am a reader of the Express and I believe it is one of the leading newspapers in Trinidad and Tobago. I am quite satisfied with what they produce, however, I think a bit more focus on local sports can inspire our youths to read more and also make them more knowledgeable about our sporting heroes.
Monica Joseph, 58, housewife, Rancho Quemado. Yes, it’s a good newspaper but I believe it cannot do better than it’s currently doing because it is being handicapped by the government. The Express is sometimes prevented from printing what should be printed by political influences.I enjoy reading the Express but I really don’t think they can do much more. Congratulations to them all the same.
Martin Smith, 45, Taxi Driver, Freeport. I really enjoy Express’ online paper especially the aspect of online readers having the ability to give their opinion or offer a comment to the various articles. I also like the fact that I can actively participate in their online survey on a daily basis. That I believe is quite good.
Marissa Mungroo, 20, Public Servant, Penal. I think it’s good compared to others. I would like to see are more general issues being highlighted especially as it relates to community activities. These rarely get highlighted compared to political issues and other ‘big’ topics. Additionally, a lot more entertainment features aimed at the younger generation may be a welcomed move.
Garvin DeGannes, 47, Security Officer, Port of Spain. It is the number one newspaper to me. It gives you accurate reporting and this, I believe, is what the public wants. Express covers all the major events and I love its sports reporting. I would love to see more coverage of political issues. I believe that’s an area they can improve on. However, it has a well laid out classified section that is quite user friendly. Well done and congratulations to them. |
