star: Chutney Soca Monarch KI performs at the Music of the World 2 concert in Guyana. ToolsKI To Launch 'Here For Ever'...in tribute to T&T's IndependenceReigning National Chutney Soca Monarch KI Persad is about to release a song in celebration of the nation's 50th anniversary of Independence, and he is hoping people will appreciate the work he put into it. The song, "Here For Ever", was composed by songwriter Remi D who is based in New Jersey, USA, and produced by Rishi Mahato at his Maha Studios. Mahato also did the production for the runaway hit "Single Forever". Do not, however, let the similarity of the titles lead you to believe that this new track is simply a spin-off of the first. "Here For Ever" is completely different musically, blending chutney with soca and other local styles to make for a unique Trinbagonian expression. In the song, Persad sings of the pride he feels in being Trinbagonian, and in spite of whatever challenges arise, he will not make anywhere else his home. The final mix was done on Thursday, right before Persad left to perform in Antigua. Persad expects to release the track this coming week, not only with the Independence celebrations in mind but also for the Emancipation holiday on August 1 because the song celebrates the freedoms and achievements of every citizen, regardless of ethnicity. Persad believes Trinbagonians are one people, which is what makes these twin islands the only place he really calls home. This year has been the most active of his musical career as with the launch of "Single Forever", Persad and 3Veni have been on the go, doing shows across Trinidad and Tobago, throughout the islands and in North America, Canada and Europe. Persad last weekend performed in a concert at the National Stadium in Guyana, titled "Music of the World 2", before a sold-out audience of several thousand. Fans were dancing and singing along to "Single Forever", as well as other hits, including, "No More Rum Again", "Catch Meh Lovah" and "Tek He Gyal" from the young singer/musician. |
