ToolsRBL Strikers Crowned Siparia Olympic Clash ChampionsThe blink | bmobile Olympic Community Clash series kicked off on July 8 at Irwin Park, Siparia, where, along with celebrity sport and media guests, Siparia's fittest, fastest and most flamboyant, vied for cash and tech prizes and the bragging rights of being crowned Siparia's blink | bmobile Olympic Clash Champions. They came, they parachuted, pulled, tunneled, sprinted, putted, skied, chipped and bounced. What started as an ordinary fun-day, turned into an extraordinary version of an Extreme Sports Decathlon at the first blink | bmobile Olympic Community Clash in Siparia. In the end, the RBL Strikers could feel a real sense of accomplishment, emerging the winners and copping the coveted $10,000 prize for the charity of their choice – (Living Waters, Home for the Aged). Eleven community groups started assembling early on Sunday, determined to let nothing stand in the way of their claim to the top prize for their charity of choice. The majority of them were taking on the blink| bmobile Olympic Community Clash challenge to benefit various youth groups, however, the interests of senior citizens, battered women and abused children were also strongly represented with the collaboration of other corporate sponsors including Republic Bank, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the Police Service and the Siparia Regional Corporation. Brian Lara and Darren Ganga were the surprise celebrity judges and were joined by special guests Chandresh Sharma, Minister of Transport, Member of Parliament for Princes Town, Nela Khan and Doodnath, Chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation. The top three teams, RBL Strikers, JLD Family and MOWI, St. Patrick, took away over $50,000 in cash and prizes, while enjoying a thrilling concert performance by Shurwayne Winchester. TSTT's Trevor Deane, EVP Marketing, Strategic Analytics and Carrier Business said the success of the event reflected a strong sense of concern for vulnerable groups in the community. "Teams competed fiercely but were always mindful that they each were championing a common good and blink | bmobile was pleased to partner with them all to bring greater awareness of the work being done by these groups." The second clash takes place today from noon to 6 p.m. at the Barrackpore Recreational Ground, in Barrackpore. |
