To whom it may concern,
We the public has been using the facility that was constructed in the King George the Fifth Grounds app. (3) three years or more now and this is so because the government moved the basketball court where the NAPA building is presently. Now as of Friday the 28th October 2011 there is a new steel gate constructed at the entrance of the facility and we the citizens has been ordered via a notice with the city corporation logo on it to pay a fee of $6.00 per hour to park , then an additional $6.00 for every hour we do spend on the basketball court and for the tennis enthusiasts they are made to pay $15.00 per hour for usage of facility. Why do we have to pay for a public facility that we only use the lights on. No so much as the toilets we use............To us this is an outrage an we are asking you to please investigate this matter that the mayor of Port of Spain has sanctioned arriving of the brutalizing of our representatives last Thursday in a very short meeting held with him. Why should the public of Trinidad and Tobago be made to pay for something that our taxes are already covering. Is it now that we have to pay twice for the facility? Basketballers use the facility everyday and so does the tennis players and because of the new payment rule the courts will be left to itself.
The usage rules are set but what if the rain falls when the game is going on those this mean we get back our money for a court we cannot use. One light on the basketball court has been out for app. (2) months and it does not seem like it's going to be fixed any time soon. After the rains fall should be someone who would roll the court and ensure that it is dry for usage? Should it now be swept everyday. I don't know how feasible this is but can someone please make and effort to help the public win this one for the free use of a public facility.
