Southern Main Road Point Fortin

Devastating Main Road in Point Fortin!

This is the present condition of the Southern Main Road from Point Fortin to Vance River.

For the past few months the W.A.S.A. has been excavating and dredging mainly the north bound lane of the SMR in Point Fortin. Despite the beneficial aspect of W.A.S.A.'s development, the road is left in an extremely, poor condition.

I have witnessed and experienced drivers struggling to drive safely along these roads, Where this has failed, many vehicular accidents have occurred as a result of dodging the terrifying potholes and trying to find a 'good' path to drive along.

My question is: "Why can't the authorities at least pave back the road where they have finished working on?"

Constuction and road maintainance should be done by bids from independant companies with intregity. There is enough rocks, sand, cement and pitch in T@T to build good roads, gutters with cement retaining walls and navigatable side walks. Return home?

WASA, T&TEC, and PETROTRIN are all state agencies. They can corporate to create a utility corridor away from the residential area

It does not make senses to me. The high voltage power line and the industrial water line running along the SMR between Point Fortin and LaBrea, should have been installed in a utility corridor outside the vge(s).

Watching WASA work on this is like watching grass grow, only slower. Seriously poor, shoddy work and PF residents suffer daily. What yu all expect when yu all vote PNM anyway.

There should be policies for these utilities companies that in order to cut the road, assurances should be given to reinstate the roads surface to it original standards or better or not have the approvals to carry out construction

LaBrea pitch lake is not too far away to have the pitch replaced. If the digging up is completed, then repave the road and make it safe for all who use the road to make a living. Livelihood depends on proper means of transportation.

It is so frustrating to drive on that road . I keep putting off any trip to Pt Fortin. Pity those who have to do the trip everyday to go to work or home. Lots of roads are so "mashed up".This has been the situation for such a long, long time.
