Residents of Dorrington Gardens, Pearl Gardens and others have suffered from flooding for many years and despite numerous complaints to the authorities, we have received nothing but unfulfilled promises. The affected streets fill with flood water after 20 - 30 minutes of steady rain.
To add insult to injury, WASA has now placed two main pipes (one being approximately 16" inches diameter) into a drain that is already too small.
Promises have been received from as far back as the Eric Williams administration, Colm Imbert, the Regional Corp, and more recently -the Ministry of Works and Transport. WASA has also refused to listen to the cries of the residents and have sought the easy way out.
I am begging the authorities to address this situation before it results in further damages and losses.

Yet the Dutch keep the low lying parts of the Netherlands dry for habitation and agriculture, through dikes, dams and floodgates and a system of drainage ditches, canals and pumping stations.

Netherlands is vulnerable to flooding because it is a geographically low-lying country, with about 25% of its area and 21% of its population located below sea level, and 50% of its land lying less than one metre above sea level.

For years the public have been complaining about the inadequaties and poor workmanship of WASA engineers. So far there have been no improvement .Today the very same complains can be heard. It is time something is done to improve WASA workmanship.

From my experience it seems that the majority of ,WASA engineers are not properly trained. They can dig and refill holes adequately, but for repairing pipes, building and repairing bridges.sewers etc they are incompetent.

How can a 3rd country like Trinidad can elect a PM and no changes have been made. The locals continue to blame government for mothers nature actions but yet no one in real power have come forth with a solution. Both administrations can't deal.
