Tools21 questions with Shomari Smith1. What quality do you like most in women? Women who are independent, emotional and especially if they have a relationship with God. It's important to me that a woman I'm interested in has some spiritual grounding.
2. Your happiest moment? I don't think it has happened as yet. With God's graces, I still have a lot of life to live!
3. Your secret fear? Losing the ones who are closest to me
4. Which living person do you admire most? My mom Pamela Hunt! Through the sacrifices she has made to raise me and my brother Scherzon, she is the true embodiment of what and who a parent is supposed to be.
5. What quality do you value most in your friends both male and female? Support, loyalty and understanding. There is no better feeling than knowing there are those who have your genuine interest at heart and are willing to show it with great appreciation.
6. What is your greatest extravagance? Online shopping. But I have committed myself not to spend much (fingers crossed lol)
7. The place you would like to visit before you die? There are two places actually. Jade Mountain Resort in St. Lucia and The Burj Kalifa in Dubai. They are awesome!
8. What is your favourite journey? Going to different events, meeting different people and playing music that people enjoy never gets old! When you're able to pick up a microphone or play music and bring joy to others, that's a fantastic journey a feeling that never dies.
9. What advice would you give to people wishing to enter your field? Don't expect or aim to be an overnight superstar. Things will be challenging at first and in every journey, the road to success will be a bit long. But always keep in mind your current circumstances do not dictate where you can go but merely how you started. That's why it's important not to take short cuts in learning the elements of music and the entertainment field. Most importantly, always be true to who you are. Try to develop your own style and be YOU not a next 'someone else'.
10. What is your current state of mind? I'm focused right now on being a better person daily, in all aspects of Shomari and establishing myself greater in my careers.
11. What is the trait you most deplore in others? UNGRATEFULNESS!!, especially to those that have helped you along the way.
12. What is your greatest joy? Being able to entertain with music and being able to put a genuine smile on someone's face, especially if they are down and out
13. What is your biggest turn on in a woman? A woman who I can have an intelligent, deep intimate conversation with, and if she has a great pair of legs, she's a keeper!
14. What is your guilty pleasure? I will not lie, I cannot deny a good doubles.
15. What is your lowest depth of misery? It happened in 2010, standing in the hospital the morning my good friend Kennis London died. He was such a big part of my musical successes, and even though I was able to have the opportunity to do radio before him, it was also his passion to be a radio announcer. After playing music alongside him for nearly 10 years, I felt as though part of me died.
16. What is your pet peeve? People who cross the line of being confident and become arrogant and cocky. It gives the impression you've forgotten where you came from and that ticks me off.
17. What do you get complimented most about? My humility and my height. Being 6" 1 has some advantages lol.
18. When was the last time you cried? I am somewhat emotional, so it was some time earlier this year. But I'd rather not say when or why.
19. What was the first thing you did this morning? I rolled in bed, thanked God for life but wondered why I could never get eight hours of proper sleep!
20. What do you consider your most cherished virtue? The genuine love care and committed concern I show to those important to me.
21. If you had one personal wish (which you alone can benefit from hence world peace, etc not applicable) what would it be? It may sound cliché but I genuinely wish that the dreams I hold of being able to contribute to our society our country & our nation's youth in a positive way would come true. I believe that we are put on this earth not just to be happy, but to contribute to making life better for ourselves and others. If I can be a catalyst in making that happen, my life would have been worth it! Personal highlights Shomari Smith, known on the radio as well as in the entertainment industry as both announcer and Deejay with Redymix DMT (Digital Music Transmission), is a humble, multi dimensional individual and considered one of the most popular and requested DJs on the party scene in Trinidad and Tobago. A highly acclaimed DJ/ Announcer, the Trincity native is part of the Sunday ensemble that hosts the "The Hook up" on 96.1WEFM, alongside co hosts Kimberly Mitchell and Sheyna Weston. In addition to his entertainment career, Shomari is also an employee and alumni of the UWI. Always aiming for excellence, he possesses a B Sc. in Public Sector Management with a Minor in psychology. As a student and even presently he has been credited with influencing activities geared towards student life. This is highlighted by a stint he held as President of the UWI Trinidad and Tobago Student Association (TTSA) as well as his active involvement in student centered activities. |
