From the hard to the light

From our hardhitting story on Genelle Guzman Mc Millan last week we take a breather and turn the page this week to a lighter cover showcasing the beauty of our women and the spirit that is Carnival.

From the tantalising, swerving hips of the bejewelled masquerader, to the flag woman, to the scantily clad female on Jouvert morning, drenched in mud and oil, wining through the streets, there is no disputing the fact that an earthy sexuality pervades the very air we breathe. It is a time when we women are given free rein to abandon the social shackles and be as naughty as we can, and as sexy as we dare.

In this Calvin French photo three women, Anna Rosa Banfield in rich orange, Kristen Chin Cheong in bold red, and Christiane Steel in a colourful Tahiti costume, all from the band Tribe, give us a preview of their Carnival Tuesday look. The ladies are inspired by the bright palette of Revlon's make-up colours.

I love reading about the simple lives of women as is depicted in our Real Women Real Stories series and this week is no exception as gas station attendant Rhonie Sorzano gives us an insight into her daily life.

Again writer Lorraine Waldropt does not disappoint, as she observes and captures Sorzano's amusing interactions with her customers.

Ladies, this week's issue is without our only male writer Allan Wesley. Our Florida based correspondent will be back next week however, to give us another much needed installment on how to navigate our most difficult romantic relationships.

As far as conjugal visits are concerned I am in total agreement with writer Josieann Richards. We need to address more pressing problems within the prison system before we can even contemplate implementing conjugal visits. Richards offers up an interesting perspective. Enjoy.
