These are the beautiful and talented women who are featured in the pages of Woman this week. Women of different races and cultures but who all have one significant thing in common.... their talent .
Chutney singer Nisha B graces our cover in a beautiful Calvin French photo and then styles it up in Peter Elias on our fashion pages, while new soca sensation J'Angel hits the scene for Carnival 2013.
Charlene Griffith, one half of the singing duo 2Ntrigie is now singing soca and making her debut at the semi-finals of the International Soca Monarch competition today at the Velodrome in Arima, while a Japanese pannist is turning heads with her expertise on the instrument. Writer Lorraine Waldropt-Ferguson tells Yurie Sanechika's story on Pages 12 and 13.
We throw in a little controversy here in our issue piece by Jovan Tobas as daughters tell their mothers "Mummy, I am a lesbian" on Page 10.
Personally, it was a tough week listening to the wrangling in the Parliament leading up to the THA Elections and then turninng to the international news as the National Rifle Association (NRA) begins a fierce battle with President Barack Obama over gun rights and the call for a ban on assault rifles in the wake of the slaughter of children in Newtown, Connecticutt.
It all made for a stressful week as it seems in every corner of the world, from Syria to Afghanistan, there is war and conflict.
By tomorrow night we will know who won the THA elections and tomorrow morning President Barack Obama will be sworn in for a second term. But the battle lines on both sides of the isle have been drawn and sad to say the intense battle for power has only just began. Take some time out from the stress and enjoy Woman.
And remember be kind to each other.
