Living with a purpose
When I am introduced to women like Susan De Freitas, who graces our cover, and Eva Swain, the subject of our Real Women Real Stories this week, I have hope that somehow in the midst of all the despair and carnage which exist in the world that there are people among us who are determined to do everything in their power to come to the aid of others.
These people in my view lead purposeful lives.
De Freitas is selfless in her devotion to children suffering with autism. She was inspired to go the extra mile when she saw how much her brother Neil, who had Down's syndrome, suffered.
So determined was she to change things that she has developed an educational facility to provide specialised education for children suffering with autism.
She stands tall in my book and so to does our Real Woman Eva Swain.
Swain has been giving children free lessons in her community of Coal Mine and environs, and has not only assisted both secondary and primary school children with their exams, but has also been coaching them in the social graces: etiquette, morals and respect and doing it all out of the goodness of her heart.
Both women believe strongly in the power and pleasure of giving back to society.
I am honoured to have them grace our pages this week.
Our resident columnist Allan Wesley continues to school us on relationships, while our lifestyle and etiquette columnist Margurite Gordon can be found in her regular slot on page 19 with some much needed advice for fathers.
Do women really know what men want sexually? Some men tell us in piece provided by Women's Day.
Of course, there is a lot more for your reading pleasure, beauty with Kirk Thomas, fashion from famed photographer Calvin French and a funny piece entitled Bridezillas on Page 11 written by Lorraine Waldropt. And please remember be kind to each other.
